Evolve to Smoother Lips, with eos Lip-balm

Wintertime. For many the word brings thoughts of Christmas, epic snowball fights, and hot  cocoa. Yet, overlooked by every yearner for winter, until winter is in full throttle, is the annoying downside of chapped lips, a classic symptom of cold weather.

For years I have experimented with various brands and types of lip treatments, from balms to chaps, butters, creams, homemade concoctions, the list goes on. While paying from $2 to $20, yet never being truly happy with the results. Either it’s too greasy, sticky, drying, funny smelling or it tastes bad. Or maybe the chemicals on the ingredients list are national spelling bee worthy, but not worthy to go on one’s face.

Luckily, this winter I seem to have got it. I stumbled across eos when in London Drugs this spring. My eye was caught by the whimsical nature of the packaging; the bright colours and the unique sphere-like shape the lip-balms had. Once I began reading the packaging I was further intrigued; their lip-balms are 100% natural, 95% organic, and free of petrolatum jelly or any parabens. By the time I checked the price I was sold, eos lip-balms generally are $10 or under, depending on where you buy them. Which, for a natural lip product (and one that is so effective) is pretty good.

Over six months, and multiple scents/flavours of eos lip-balms later, it is safe to say this brand will definitely remain a favourite. Not only are the lip-balms cute and unique, but they are also highly effective at relieving chapped lips, even during the drying winter months. Also, I find their products are not too greasy or runny, along with having an excellent smell and flavour (my current favourite is the mint one). The range of flavour/scent combinations available ensure no lip-balm boredom will ensue. Where the rotund shape of the lip-balm actually helps the application, one does not have to stick their (probably) unclean finger into a gooey jar and then rub it all over their face, nor do they have to use a stick possessing a minuscule diameter to tediously scale their lips repeatedly to guarantee full coverage. Instead the roundness of the balm makes it so that the entire lip area can be covered in one or two swipes.

When researching for this article, I found that eos does not only make lip-balms, their best known product, but they also make lotions and shaving cream. Although I have never tried these products I definitely will if I get the chance!

If you want to try eos products, keep your eyes peeled for a brightly coloured little ball in a drugstore near you. For information on where to buy eos products, and what products are available where, in Calgary or elsewhere, you can visit eos’s website by clicking on the link here.

  1. Lauren try Buddha Balm for the best lip balm out there. I know EOS is popular, but it’s so waxy and goes on this. Buddha Balm has a creamy texture and just works really, really well.
