5 Fall Essentials

Goodbye flip flops and sweltering heat and hello sweater weather! If you can’t tell, fall is my favourite season, what with all the colourful leaves and pumpkin spice lattes, and hold up! Can we just talk about the pumpkin spice frappe for a minute? It’s insane! But back to my favourite season: fall. Fall to me is comforting candles, twinkle lights, HALLOWEEN!!, and beautiful scenery. I love to curl up with a book in a cute sweater or grab a Pumpkin Spice Latte with my friends after school, as I’m sure everyone else does. In all, fall is pretty amazing, but with these essentials, you can up the ante and make this fall unforgettable.

1. Warm, Cosy Sweaters!

The title makes this sound really grandma-ish, but I assure you there is nothing more comfy and cute than a nice sweater. Sweaters are the essential fall clothing item, if not one of them, and you’ll catch many sporting them in the fall and all the way through the winter because they are cute, comfy and chic. These go with a nice pair of leggings, jeans, or virtually anything. I like to style them over leggings or with a cute black skirt, but no matter which way you wear it, it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll look pretty stylish.

2. Candles

My mom is a witness of my utter Bath & Body Works candle addiction.. It’s not my fault I go in looking for two, find there’s a sale, and come out with four… Really! Okay, well I guess I’m partly guilty. But nonetheless, I love to turn on my twinkle lights and light a nice candle (Don’t even get me started on Marshmallow Fireside!) because I really don’t know what else screams fall.. Honestly. If you walk into my room, you’ll notice I have several candles on standby and it’ll probably smell like one of the candles, but I can’t help it. Fireplaces have always screamed cosy to me, but since I don’t have one, I make do with my candles. Bath & Body Works has a large range of fall themed candles now, but you can buy candles anywhere. If you don’t have one already, I recommend getting one because candles are the best!

3. Good Music

I don’t know about you, but the thought of shuttling back home with no tunes doesn’t leave a smile on my face. The 2nd half of 2015 so far has been filled with great releases ranging from breakthrough artist Halsey’s “Badlands” to former The Voice star Melanie Martinez’s debut album “Crybaby”. If you’re in need of some new songs to listen to, Songza or even the discover option on Spotify are great ways to discover your new favourite artist.

4. Movies

October is my favourite month of the year, and for good reason. Not only is it full of fun seasonal activities to do (like pumpkin picking!), but it’s also sweater weather, which makes it perfect for staying inside and watching that marathon of Halloween Town. Grab your blankets, hot cocoa and settle in for a good flick or two while you still can, because sadly it’s not everyday where you can turn on the TV and see Halloween movie marathons.

5. Seasonal Decorations

Okay, this might just be, but I really don’t feel festive if I don’t have my jack-0-lantern string lights strewn all over my room. Seasonal decorations can help make a room cozy and get you in the fall spirit without the hassle of going out and doing stuff on those days where you just wanna stay inside. I’m always super eager to get my decorations up and once they’re up, I don’t wanna take them down based on the happy, cosy feeling they give me.
