Craig Kielburger speaks in Calgary

Free the Children‘s motto, “children helping children,” provides a great overall understanding of what the charity is all about. I have heard a lot about the founder, Craig Kielburger, but until now I’ve never fully understood how much his charity helps others and influences youth. Craig started the charity in 1995 when he was only 12 years old. It is such an amazing inspiration to youth how one 12-year-old was able to make such a large impact in other people’s lives. The organization was originally founded by Craig and some of his classmates to encourage other youth to get involved in the movement of fighting against child labour.

We Day Toronto 2011

Free the Children continues to grow as We Day celebrates and influences youth around the world. I watch the news nearly every morning and for about a week straight We Day continued to be mentioned. This day had a huge influence in many peoples lives. 2007 was the first We Day which brought many North American youth together to be educated on the world and inspired to make a change.

Today, Craig Kielburger will be speaking in Calgary at St. Michaels Catholic church at 7:30 p.m. I am so excited to have to opportunity to go and hear his speech. He is a living example of the charity’s motto, “children helping children.”

Sarah
Hey I'm Sarah. I am 17 years old and have lived in Calgary for about 7 years in total, while living overseas for majority of my life. I moved from Canada when I was really young and traveled to California, Angola, Africa, and Indonesia. I have most recently just moved back to Calgary from living in Malaysia for almost 3 years. I design clothes, play soccer, and have modeled a few times, doing runways and photo shoots with some fashion designers, as well as L'Oreal. I have had lots of interesting experiences due to my traveling and it has always shaped who I am.
