Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe

The other day I found some spare peppermint candy canes still lying around from Christmas so I decided to make some peppermint hot chocolate. So if you’re a fan of peppermint and chocolate, this recipe is for you. Personally, I think peppermint and chocolate were just meant to be together- they compliment each other so well!

For this recipe, you need:

– A package of hot chocolate

– Some water or milk for mixing

– A mug

– Peppermint candy canes (the amount depends on how strong you want the peppermint flavour to be)

– Whipped cream and marshmallows (optional)

Step 1: Make the hot chocolate according to the instructions on the packet. Since I’m lazy, I just went for pre-packaged hot chocolate, but if you’re a real foodie, you can also make the hot chocolate from scratch.

Step 2: Crush some of the candy cane into small pieces using the back of a cleaver or rolling pin. For my hot chocolate, I used only half of a standard sized candy cane. photo(2)

Step 3: Make sure your hot chocolate is real hot, because next you need to take your peppermint chunks and dunk them in the hot chocolate, stirring until the candy cane is completely melted into the drink .

Step 4: Top with whipped cream and marshmallows, if you like.

Step 5: Enjoy!
