How to cope with being forgetful

Being a teenager is tough, but being a forgetful one is even worse.

forgetfullnessTrust me, I get it. I forget everything, in fact, I almost forgot to write this blog post until I tripped on my laptop. It doesn’t help with people asking me why I’m forgetful. I don’t know! I don’t want to be forgetful. I was just born to forget.

I think I have realized that the fact that I am hopelessly unorganized may contribute to my forgetfulness. My locker is like an abyss; once something goes in, it never comes out. That’s a lot like my mind. Everything I hear is in one ear, out the other. I try to remember, but I simply can’t.

But I have found out how to live with my forgetfulness. So, for all you forgetful people, I have found solutions!

People say that I should write things down. Sure, I guess it might help, but I always put my sticky notes somewhere and forget where they are. So I write everything on my hand. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but I will never lose my hand! My reminders are always with me.

If you don’t want to be covered in ink, put your electronics to good use! If you have any smartphone, your phone has built in reminders. Once you need to remember something, put it in your reminders and your device will remember for you!

If you don’t have a smartphone, no need to fret! Buy an agenda. I know agendas area a hassle to carry and you can’t be bothered to write in them, but with a little dedication and effort, using an agenda will be part of your routine!

If, like me, you forgot where you put your agenda, try for something a bit more permanent. Like a white board! Keep a white board in your locker so you can write down reminders after every class. And when you are back at your locker, your reminders are there waiting for you!

These were just a few tips to help my fellow neglectful friends out there, I really hope they help! 🙂
