Learn new skills at SAIT Summer Camps

Sait Summer Camps - learn skills for the future!

I know, I know – it’s almost August. Summer school is drawing to a close, and you only have one month before school begins again. If you’re looking for a fun and educational experience, why not try out the Summer Camps at SAIT? There are so many different possibilities to choose from – and for all ages too!

Not only will you learn valuable skills that may help you in your future endeavours (from a career venture to a light hobby) but you will also spend your summer in one of Calgary’s greatest teaching institutes.

These camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for about five days. That’s over 30 hours of  fun and learning! (Not including lunch breaks!) Speaking of lunch breaks, SAIT offers a fantastic lunch program for their campers. Traditional shepherd’s pie? Parmesan breadsticks? Baked spaghetti? Where better to eat lunch that a polytechnic institute that houses some of the world’s next best chefs?

Here are some of the many unique programs that will be offered this August:

  • Professional cooking bootcamp
  • Superstar tech designer
  • Future oil tycoon
  • Next great entrepreneur; Intermediate
  • Metals and other materials; Intermediate
  • Extreme Marketing and Advertising
  • 2D game design

Despite the costs (which can range from about $150-$500), I think that these camps offer a chance for youth to gain valuables skills and provide programs that cater to many unique interests. Since April, I’ve been looking for programs that would help provide learning and skill-building for specific careers – and to be honest, it has been quite a challenge. There aren’t a great deal of summer camps in Calgary that focus on welding or the oil business.

These camps are a great resource for individuals who are looking to go into the trades, or are just looking for something fun to do over the summer. Though the August is

fast approaching, there are still plenty of opportunities to look at and sign up for. (If you don’t see one you’re interested in, check back again next year – more and more programs are being added all the time!)

If you would like more information on any of the specific courses and camps available or you would like to sign up for one of these amazing opportunities, check out the SAIT summer camp guide.

And last, but not least, for all of those avid volunteers – while the camp assistant application deadline has already come to a close, be sure to sign up next year! This volunteering opportunity is specifically for those in Grade 11/12, be sure to check out their volunteering page!

Alexis
Hey there! My name is Alexis, and I'm a self proclaimed biology enthusiast and baker (or a kitchen chemist?). I attend Sir Winston Churchill, where I help lead the biology club. Often times, you'll find me awake at 4am avidly baking (even after a long night of Extended Essay preparations!) - from macarons, cupcakes, modelling chocolate figures, and cheesecake to rich breads and crunchy muffins. Hungry yet?
