Paperman – Classic Love Story

With the Valentine’s Day hype and all, this mini film is the quickest way to get into the the spirit.  Show it to your significant other to get into cupids good books. Telling the tale of a New York city young man stuck in a mundane office job, his life changes forever when a pretty young lady catches his eye  they wait together for a train.  The audience is taken on a six and a half minute journey of his adventure to find the future love-of-his-life filled with plenty of paper airplanes (that was not a typo!). Paperman will leave even the less sentimental of us, a little teary-eyed.

Produced by the infamous Walt Disney Animated Studios, this mini film was featured in theatres with the movie Wreck it Ralph.  This charming video has a vintage feel to it, playing nearly all in back & white.  In an actions-speak-louder-than-words kind of way, I didn’t even notice that there was no character voice or dialogue until the end; the story comes across brilliantly!

Under the direction of John Kahrs, a first time director this Oscar-Nominated short has been created using a revolutionary new technique for cartoon films.  Blending tried-and-true hand drawn animation with CG, results in a quaint video which I hope will stay a classic.

I wish I could say that my name is Cordelia or that I can recite "The Highwayman" from memory or even that I live on Prince Edward Island. While these facts are unfortunately untrue, you can probably tell by now that I am a die-hard Anne of Green Gables fan! My name is Sarena Dharshi and I can say that one of my favourite poems is Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" and I have indeed visited Charlottetown, P.E.I. Some other fun facts about me: I attend Western Canada High School, my favourite colour is turquoise and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love writing and performing spoken word poetry and I am also a blogger for The Huffington Post.
