Quantic Dream’s Kara: A Short Video

Kara is a robot designed with the single purpose of making our lives easier. She is capable of everything a human does and more. However, when the android accidentally expresses her ability to think and feel, she discovers the horrible truth about her existence. This video is absolutely beautiful, fully capable of bringing the viewer to tears. Quantic Dream, the creator of Heavy Rain, demonstrates their new motion capture technology that will be used in future games through this short film. The small details of Kara’s facial expressions displays a whole new level of gaming graphics, able to almost perfectly mimic human emotions. I feel that the realism in her expressions and emotions made it easy for the view to empathize with the dilemma presented in the video. Although, sadly, Kara will not be Quantic Dream’s next project, there is hope that they will make a full movie extending the plot of this short film.
