Youth Are Awesome, commonly referred to as YAA, is a blog written by youth for youth. YAA provides the youth of Calgary a place to amplify their voices and perspectives on what is happening around them. Youth Are Awesome is a program of Youth Central.

Become a Reading Buddy at the Calgary Public Library

Our friends at the Calgary Public Library need volunteers for their awesome Reading Buddies program at the Shaganappi Library!

Reading Buddies encourage children to read, offer a supportive environment to develop strong literacy skills, and most importantly, make reading fun. Bring stories to life for students in Grades 1 to 3.

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Volunteers will be junior or high school students (grade 7 – grade 12)
  • Volunteers will be reliable, have a positive attitude, and good literacy level
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Volunteers will be good role models

They are currently also looking for volunteers at the Country Hills, Bowness and Alexander Calhoun locations.
