Remembering Robin Williams

For many of us, Robin Williams was a significant part of our childhood. He made us laugh, cry, dance, jump, goof off and everything else in between. This man inspired true joy. Today, I want to honour the soul that taught me anything and everything about life, by looking back at some of the films that revolutionized our childhoods and beyond.

Hook– Robin Williams irrevocably encompassed the character of a childhood favourite, Peter Pan. At a moment of my life when all I wanted to do was grow up, Mr. Williams taught me to enjoy the precious time of childhood.

Aladdin– Every little girl and boy cannot help but be infatuated with the exotic characters of Aladdin. One of the most memorable characters of course, was Genie, played by Robin Williams. The first time I watched this movie, I became engrossed with Williams’ portrayal and the idea that some wishes can come true.

Jumanji– This was a film that any family could play and it would entertain every demographic. For me, I regarded Jumanji as one of my first “scary movies.” I would howl and cry. But as I got older, I grew to appreciate the nature of storytelling present in the film.

Good Will Hunting– As I reflect upon Good Will Hunting at this present stage of my life, I can truly empathize with the struggles that some of the characters undergo as they try to overcome and embrace young adulthood. This film teaches all of us to simply not be afraid of the human condition. At one or more points in our lives, we will surely all feel helpless and confounded on the method of moving on. Robin Williams truly deserved an Academic Award for bringing this message alive.

In the mourning of Williams’ death, fans left flowers and quotes near the bench, where once a man and a boy sat, trying to make sense of life. The park bench marked one of the most iconic scenes in Good Will Hunting.

This list is only a portion of Williams’ impact in the film industry and our lives. As seen with the park bench, that will forever mark the genius of Robin Williams, Williams created more than films. He created a legacy. Robin Williams has inspired generations and will continue to revolutionize those to come.

Technology Editor Hello World! It is quite difficult to summarize a human's character with only a few words. But here I go; I am a movie buff, a sushi fanatic, Korean, diligent, a student, an animal lover (especially dogs), a Taekwondo athlete, and amiable (within my own head) ...well I guess that was not too exhausting. I enjoy writing about everything. But more recently, I have discovered a passion to report on the best weekly finds in the realm of science. I sincerely hope many of you will stumble upon something to your pleasure, while reading my blogs.
