Road Trip Games

Who is going on a road trip soon, or who has already gone on a road trip but wished it were more fun? Well, fear no more because I am about to tell you three fun games to play while on a road trip.

I Spy

A classic game! To start off, one person is on a lookout for an object. Once that person has found an object they say, “I spy with my little eyes, something that is ____”. They would fill in the blank with a hint about what the object looks like. The others try to find that certain object. Try to pick odd objects—those tend to make the game more entertaining. I like to make my family and friends look for signs, vehicles, and animals.

That License Plate

This game requires a good pair of eyes. All you have to do is search for license plates from different places, and whoever finds the most wins the game. This game is definitely my favourite. I have played this game during a recent road trip with my family and it was interesting to notice how different and unique license plates look. I have seen license plates from Minnesota, Washington, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nevada, Alaska, Ontario, California, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. See what you can find!

Build a Story

To play, one person starts off by saying one word and the others follow by adding a word, that would make the story head in a fascinating direction, to the first. Continue on until you have finished a creative story. It doesn’t matter if the story makes sense or not. The objective of this game is to make the tedious times in the car more fun. During my road trip, my siblings and I made a hilarious story based on a house (look at picture below) we saw. Humour is a great way to past time. If humour isn’t your cup of tea, then create a horror story or invent a new fairy tale. Stories create adventures, even if you are stuck in a vehicle.

These games helped to make my trip more memorable and worth sitting within close proximity with my siblings. Create amazing memories and adventures with these road trip games!
