Stampede 101: The Superdogs

DSC_0418Every year that I’ve been to the Calgary Stampede, the President’s Choice Superdogs Show remains my absolute favourite.  Being a big canine fan, there is nothing else I’d rather be doing than spend forty-five minutes watching my furry friends, run, jump, skip rope, weave and perform for the audience to their hearts’ content.  It’s clear that these dogs are not only talented, they are love pleasing the crowd!  Take a look at what I experienced at the show this year during the last day of the Calgary Stampede (photography by yours truly):

My favourite “Pufferini” aka Puff Daddy, the magician, who could tell which coloured block a little girl picked out of the pile while his eyes were closed

Next up, Lilly the skipping dog (and she’s Calgarian too!)

Now for the toughest exersise to train dogs for – weaving through the poles.  In fact some of the performers decided it just wasn’t their day and casually walked past all the poles.  PS: Can you spot the pug brothers?

And finally, some high jumping (Puff Daddy joins the fun)

And after the show comes my favourite part: meet and greet with the stars and their trainers!

I wish I could say that my name is Cordelia or that I can recite "The Highwayman" from memory or even that I live on Prince Edward Island. While these facts are unfortunately untrue, you can probably tell by now that I am a die-hard Anne of Green Gables fan! My name is Sarena Dharshi and I can say that one of my favourite poems is Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" and I have indeed visited Charlottetown, P.E.I. Some other fun facts about me: I attend Western Canada High School, my favourite colour is turquoise and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love writing and performing spoken word poetry and I am also a blogger for The Huffington Post.
