LIGHT & AIRY
This summer I am really looking forward to lights. Light colors, light fabrics, and generally brightening my wardrobe from the melancholy winter blues. My favorites include rompers, baby doll/t-shirt dresses, and sheer kimonos! Don’t be afraid to stray into prints here and there and just have a little fun.
DENIM
I am such a fan of denim but I have yet to find the perfect summer shorts. If you are looking for the staple high-waisted cutoffs, I suggest you ditch the lines and hefty price-tags. Cut them off yourself! Find your mom-jeans at the local thrift or use old jeans that you were planning to get rid of anyway. ACCESSORIES
Crystal rings. Gold details. And watches! Also, whenever you have the chance, check out some of yyc’s festivals that are happening over the summer months. Countless of vendors come out to sell locally handmade products, including cute/eclectic accessories you’re bound to find and love. Last summer at the Inglewood Night Market, I was lucky to find a beautiful rose-gold leaf ring that I did not see anywhere else.
SHOES / SANDALS
Yes, Birkenstocks are on my list… No matter how popular they’ve come to be they are loved heavily for a reason. Besides their fresh minimal aesthetic on the summer sandal look, Birks are comfy and so easy to wear.
HAIR
Summer hairstyles… whether you wear them long or short, there is something beautiful about their messy, unkept looks. However after personally undergoing a ‘long do’ for the longest time myself, this summer I am obsessed with the short cut. Whether it’d be a bob or a pixie, short hair makes it effortless and easy to style.
