Summer break is almost halfway over and I would like to remind those of you out there of a really cool festival happening this Sunday. It is the annual Sun & Salsa Festival in Kensington occurring on July 21, 2013 from 11am to 5pm. One of the largest one day festivals in Calgary, Sun & Salsa Festival is in their 20th anniversary with over 75000 people attending last year. During the course of the day, 1000 L of Salsa and 10 000 bags of chips will be used.

This year, there will be 22 Salsa Stations, 11 patios, a kids area and 2 stage performer areas, along with numerous local vendor booths. The festival starts at 11am so make sure to attend early as the four chip stations will close by 3pm, and also to avoid the long lines! Remember that each bag of chips supports Sun & Salsa’s two charities-Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association and Norfolk Housing.

The festival takes place on 10th street from Memorial Drive to 5th Street as well as on Kensington Road from 10th Street to 13th Street. As for transportation, the festival is very close to the Sunnyside LRT station as well as numerous bus routes-405, 419, 145, 1, 5, and 9. Roadside parking restrictions in the neighborhood have also been lifted. And of course, there is always the option of biking or walking to the event!

Make sure you check out the festival website as well as their Twitter and Facebook for updates and news.

See you this Sunday!
