Top 3 Most Promising Free to Play MMO’s (2013)

Looking for a massively multiplayer online game to play all day in the year of 2013? Look no further: I’ve narrowed the list to three very promising games which are scheduled to release soon.

1. Phantasy Star Online 2
This one just looks fantastic. It is a sci-fi, third person, dungeon crawling, fighting focused MMORPG with three different races, three different classes, great game design, excellent gameplay, fantastic graphics, wonderful customization and just an infinite amount of opportunities for adventure. The gameplay is the most important part for me since PSO2 has, arguably, the best gameplay out of all free to play MMOs.  It has a real time combat system where you can actively jump onto different levels of terrain, dodge attacks, roll around and combo enemies into oblivion.

It’s action packed and it looks extremely intuitive and fantastic. The graphics are just the icing on the cake – very realistic and varied among all maps. The soundtrack is also pretty damn good, and overall it just looks like a lot of fun. There’s simply too much to put in words but I guarantee you – this one will be amazing. I’ll show you both the trailer and the gameplay, both which look very nice. This one is scheduled later in the year of 2013, but no confirmed date.

2. Wildstar
This one is also another amazing sci-fi third person MMORPG. However, it is more cartoony, has less focus on the fighting system and puts more emphasis on the “adventure” unlike PSO2. Wildstar offers four paths, which are Settler, Adventurer, Warrior and Scientist just to fit all your needs.

Got a lust for exploring and platforming like me?  Set out to become an adventurer.
Just wanna kill things and try out new weapons?  Enlist in the force as a Warrior.
Interested in the very well constructed lore and history of Wildstar?  Think about being a Scientist.
What if you just wanna settle down and be the one giving out free drinks to your friends?  The path of the settler is for you.

Wildstar is completely unique and is an adventure like never before, with custom missions for each path to make sure everyone has their own experience tailored to their liking. If an entirely new world with so much history, lore and places to explore isn’t enough for you – then check out the gameplay. Even though I had previously said that Wildstar focuses less on the fighting system than PSO2, it still packs a pretty kickass combat system. It’s real time, which means it will keep you on your feet while you explore their massive world of Nexus.

In my opinion, this is the free to play MMO you should be looking forward to the most. The game designers took the genre of MMORPG and basically addressed every single flaw I could think of, then loaded it up with straight shots of adventure. Look forward to this one for sure because while PSO2 is an amazing, skill based dungeon crawler, Wildstar has a fighting system that definitely does not pale in comparison, plus a boat load of stuff to back it up. I won’t show you the gameplay because that’s not what it’s about, in my opinion. I’ll show you the trailer because it simply just highlights the amazing amount of story, personality and potential that this game has. That’s how great it is: you don’t even NEED to see the actual game in order to get hyped up. (The actual game is cool too, by the way.) This one is scheduled for a late 2013 release, but no real confirmed date.

3. Loadout
Guess what – this one has also got guns. Lots of them. To sum it up, it’s Borderlands 2 but with a MMO spinoff. But that’s exactly what makes this game so great. It’s a cartoony skill based third person MMO shooter where the emphasis is on the customization of the guns and the KILLING. You get to build, name and fire your very own guns by customizing their parts to modify their looks, functions and everything in between.

But it doesn’t just have an amazing amount of customization. It’s also got great gameplay. From what I’ve seen, it’s a very fast paced game where you’re constantly rolling around to dodge rockets and bullets. You’re constantly on the run and the gameplay seems smooth and just a lot of fun, with gore, blood and guts everywhere. The best part: stealing other people’s guns to kill them again. Ready for a slaughterfest? No trailer, no story – just death. This one is scheduled to go into open beta for the summer.
(Death? Blood? IN MY YAA? It’s more likely than you think. It’s a teenage website, anyways)
