University Spotlight: McGill University

McGill; colloquially nicknamed “Harvard of the North.” McGill University boasts one of the strongest academics of any university in Canada. It boasts an enrollment of over 35,000 students on a campus located in Montreal, Quebec. For many, it is the pinnacle of academic excellence and achievement in Canada. With numerous decorated faculty, a vivid student community and strong athletics program,  McGill University offers something for everyone.

Many students that go to McGill have all said the same thing: that going to McGill is like entering a city inside of a city.  The camaraderie of the community is renowned throughout Canada, and is one of the reasons that many high schoolers list McGill as one of the top choices to apply to university. The campus is situated in downtown Montreal, surrounded by many pubs, eateries and cafes, perfect to spend an afternoon at.

For those who are scared of going to a city where the majority language is French, don’t worry. McGill offers a full English campus, and courses are taught in English. The neighborhoods surrounding the university campus are bilingual and offer a rare opportunity to experience Quebec culture while maintaining comfortable communication in English.

Academically, McGill offers a university that has developed the most Nobel Prize Laureates out of any school in the country, and offers in excess of 300 degree programs. It offers a unique opportunity to learn and study at one of the leading research schools in Canada.

Overall, for those wishing to spend university life at a culturally vibrant, diverse and unique campus, while studying at a school renowned for its academic success, McGill should be the school to consider.
