Adventures at the Calgary Zoo

This week, I was finally able to pay a visit to the Calgary Zoo and the new Penguin Plunge Exhibit. I hadn’t visited the zoo for more than two years, so I was very excited, and armed with my camera (of course).

The Penguin Plunge exhibit was stunning, the penguins adorable and the reaction from the public incredible. We waited around an hour for a twenty minute meet and greet with the cute flightless birds, who did not disappoint. The Rockhoppers “rocked” their colourful yellow feathers, the Kings their magestic stature, the Humboldts their superior swimming abilities and the Gentoos their charismatic nature.

I must admit that the day I went, it was colder than inside the penguin exhibit, which is saying something! However I braved the cold to see most of the other animals in the zoo. My favourite include the lions, the gorillas, the hippos and the elephants among others.  Take a look:

Stay tuned for more photos!

I wish I could say that my name is Cordelia or that I can recite "The Highwayman" from memory or even that I live on Prince Edward Island. While these facts are unfortunately untrue, you can probably tell by now that I am a die-hard Anne of Green Gables fan! My name is Sarena Dharshi and I can say that one of my favourite poems is Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" and I have indeed visited Charlottetown, P.E.I. Some other fun facts about me: I attend Western Canada High School, my favourite colour is turquoise and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love writing and performing spoken word poetry and I am also a blogger for The Huffington Post.
