The Beauty Community is very chaotic at the moment. There’s been a scandal after scandal, and one popular scandal is the James VS. Tati feud. If you are unfamiliar, Tati Westbrook’s 48-minute video named “BYE SISTER” blew up within minutes. Tati accused James Charles of sexual harassment, behaving entitled and behaviour which was inappropriate for his younger viewers.
James in return, uploaded an apologetic video that is 8-minutes. He didn’t say much as I didn’t watch the whole video. Most people couldn’t, even though it was much shorter than Tati’s. In the video he says that he’ll learn and grow from this. Most viewers know James as very happy and talkative, in this video he’s “crying” and taking long pauses every two words. James lost the most subscribers in YouTube history, he lost more than 1 million subscribers in a day. He went from 16M to 13M in about 2-3 days. James received lots of shade and hateful comments from “supporters” and celebrities. Jefree Star, The Dolan Twins, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Emma Chamberlain, etc. had unfollowed him since Tati’s video.
16th May, 2019: Tati Westbrook uploads an 18-minute video named “Why I Did It…” She explains why she decided to speak up about the situation. James uploads a video three days later named “No More Lies”.
In this video, James clears the air and responds to Tati’s absurd accusations. He says that he reached out to Tati’s competitor, Sugar Bear Hair, for an “Artists Pass” at Coachella. He also says that after the incident he tried to apologize to Tati and her husband but got no response. Eleven minutes into the video, and you can hear James lashing out at Tati for talking about his mother. He went on today that’s she’s a cancer survivor, balances her her marriage, a full-time job and two boys who have crazy lives.
Finally, James denies all allegations of sexual harassment. He said that he’d never and that he will never use his fame, money or power to manipulate a guy. He goes on to deny all allegations for the rest of the video. James has re-gained 2M subscribers. Tati’s subscribers have skyrocketed since the incident and seemed to remain the same. Tati has deleted videos regarding James.
