How to make your own pop rocks

You might wondering how pop rock candies pop on your tongue. Well, you have come to the right place. Here’s a easy recipe that you are going to love.

Ingredients:

  • a cup of caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup of corn syrup (glucose syrup)
  • a few tablespoon of water
  • two tablespoons of citric acid
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • food colouring
  • 2 tablespoons of flavouring (what ever you like)

Now for fizzy dust:

  • 3/4 cup of icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of citri acid
  • 2 tablespoons of baking powder
  • powered colouring

Step by step instructions:

  1. In a pan on medium high heat, add in sugar and glucose
  2. Add water just to cover the sugar at the bottom
  3. Mix them well
  4. Once you see the boiling bubbles on the surface, leave it for 5 minutes
  5. Taking it off the heat,  add in food colouring (let it rest for 2 minutes before adding the colouring)
  6. Pour in a flavouring (whatever flavours you like)
  7. Add in the baking soda (mix them well)
  8. Sprinkle in the citric acid (if you would like sweet rather than sour, you could skip this step)
  9. Add the fizzy dust on the bottom of the tray and pour in the liquid that we just made
  10. Glitter the rest of the citric acid and the rest of the fizzy dust on top
  11. Leave it until it is solid and dry
  12. When it’s ready, break it up into small pieces

Tips and tricks:

  • In step 1, you might want to spray your spoon or whatever device you are going to use with oil so it’s easy to scope it out
  • You can use a hammer to break it into little pieces in step 12

Sadly you are not going to have the real the actual popping experience in your mouth, because you need special conditions to make those. But you definitly have the tingly sensation. Enjoy the sweet, sour, crunchy and fizzy taste of these little rocks!

I consider writing as one of my hobbies which I think most of you don't. ( I mean some of you not all of course). Every once in a while I have new creative and realistic ideas and themes which I would like to present them through writing. On the other hand, I also enjoy drawing (any kind). I continously study and create different arts with passion. I hope you like my posts and like or comments if you have any questions or other inquires. Other than that, enjoy!?
